I know that Impossible burgers are not the healthiest things in the world but sometimes I need to satisfy that burger craving. When I found out that Impossible ground beef is now sold in retail stores I wanted to try cooking my own.

The best vegan chili recipe π₯
I am sure that at some time, you have heard the phrase “around here chili does not have beans” My usual response is that’s why I live where I do. After all, to make the best chili, you must use beans.
Nopales with soy chorizo recipeπΆ
Nopales or in English young tender pads of the Prickly Pear cactus. They are tasty and reported to have several health benefits. These include stabilizing blood sugar and anti-inflammatory effects. Nopales are also high in fiber, antioxidants, and carotenoids and help with hangovers. To read more about the health benefits, check out this article by the Mayo Clinic.
Vegan biscuit recipeπ
These vegan biscuits are super tender and have a nice crumb. They are not flaky; perhaps I will take on that challenge another time.
Easy homemade falafel recipe (Vegan) π₯
After spending time in the Middle East and enjoying street food falafel wraps, I had to learn how to make my own homemade falafel. But I am not calling this a traditional falafel recipe, but it was developed after reading many traditional recipes. My version is made with only dry chickpeas. In some places they use fava beans or a mixture of chickpeas and fava beans. Since it’s easier for most people to find chickpeas, and I want this to be an easy falafel recipe, I went with just chickpeas. This may not be the world’s best falafel, but I really like it, and it’s gout-friendly and accidentally vegan.
Twice cooked seitan recipeπ₯
Twice cooked pork is one of my favorite Sichuan Chinese dishes. It’s a salty, spicy, and fatty perfect food to eat while drinking beer. But the combination is also perfect for a gout attack. Beer is still off the menu, but this twice-cooked seitan is very gout friendly.
Spicy tofu and cauliflower recipe. πΆ
This gout friendly/vegan recipe has tofu, cauliflower, sugar snap peas served in a spicy and tangy sauce. It’s perfect for serving over rice (assuming the hoarders have not bought all of it where you live).
Mongolian seitan recipe π₯’
Mongolian chicken and Mongolian beef are two dishes that I love. With the new diet, they are not on the menu. This gout friendly version is delicious and simpler than my other versions.
Spicy TVP sloppy joes recipeπΆ
Sloppy Joes were one of the first things my brother and I learned how to cook. For me, sloppy Joes are comfort food. But the traditional way of making them with ground beef is not very gout friendly. To make this a gout friendly recipe, the ground beef is replaced with Textured Vegetable Protein or TVP.
Vegan gravy recipe π₯
This gravy would be good on your biscuits or your mashed potatoes. To be honest, I would be good at just about anything. Heck, I have an old pair of work boots that could be good with this gravy on them.
Beyond Meat bibimbap recipe π₯’
Bibimbap is a great way to use up leftover banchan (Korean side dishes). Or a quick meal after making a bunch of banchan for the week. This version will use some seasoned spinach banchan (Sigeumchi-namul) in my last recipe and some that we will make for the dish. Gosari κ³ μ¬λ¦¬ is also really good in bibimbap.
No veggie dish is mandatory; it’s really up to you what to put. The combinations are endless. Have fun and experiment.
Soy Curls in salsa verde πΆ
I love Mexican salsa verde, the kind made with slightly tart tomatillos. It’s a very versatile salsa. You can throw everything in a blender raw, blend, and serve, or you can roast over an open fire. The most common method is to blister on a plancha (flat grill) or dry pan.
Vegan fish sauce
Traditional fish sauce is made with anchovies and salt. The more modern brands include ingredients like MSG, caramel, and other food additives. None of these are good for someone who suffers from gout.
Seitan and veggie stir-fry π₯¦
My last post showed how to make shreddable chicken-style seitan. This stir fry recipe using our homemade seitan is straightforward, healthy, and delicious. The method used is very versatile, allowing you to sub whatever veggies you like.
Shreddable chicken style seitan π½
Making your own vegan shredded chicken seitan allows you to control what goes into it and how the final product turns out. It’s also a lot cheaper than buying premade.
Bindaetteok, Korean mung bean pancake π₯’
I first had Korean Mung Bean Pancakes as street food in South Korea. They are delicious, full of protein, and a great way to use up bits of leftover veggies. To keep this recipe gout friendly, we leave out the pork that often finds its way into the dish.
How to make tempeh
Tempeh is fermented whole soybeans, making it a great source of protein, dietary fiber, and vitamins. It’s not sexy to look at all covered in mold, but it has a nice mild nutty flavor.Β
Easy vegan pizza dough recipe.
Did you know that most pizza dough is vegan? Well for the most part it’s flour, yeast, salt, and water. It can also include oil or sugar. Depending upon how you top your pizza it is a food that is safe for gout sufferers. Most traditional toppings for pizza are not safe for gout sufferers. Notice I did not say it is healthy but by loading this pizza with veggies we can have something that is satisfying and safe.
